They are where planning turns into action, as materials, purchases, and costs connect to tasks, making them central to execution tracking and real transaction usage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Ensure the Project Is Ready for Tasks<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Before working with tasks, confirm that the project is properly prepared. Open the <strong>project<\/strong> window and verify that the basic project setup is complete and usable for execution. The project header must be <strong>saved and active<\/strong>, the <strong>line level<\/strong> must be set to <strong>task<\/strong>, and a valid <strong>project type<\/strong> (for example, Construction Project) must already be selected and applied using the <strong>set project type<\/strong> action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once this is done, iDempiere automatically prepares the project structure so tasks can be used without manual setup. This review ensures that the system reflects <strong>real work<\/strong> rather than unused template data. Confirm that task names match real activities such as excavation or cement work, verify that the sequence reflects the <strong>actual execution flow<\/strong>, keep tasks <strong>active<\/strong> if they will be executed, and deactivate tasks that are <strong>not required<\/strong> for this project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the project includes additional scope that is not covered by the standard tasks, <strong>new tasks can be created manually<\/strong> in this tab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Adjust Task Planning Values<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Each task must reflect <strong>realistic planning values<\/strong> so costs and quantities flow correctly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For each task:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Update the <strong>planned amount<\/strong> to represent expected cost<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Confirm or adjust the <strong>invoice rule<\/strong> based on how costs should be tracked<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Save the task after updating values<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These planned values act as the baseline for future comparison against actual execution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Understand Task Readiness for Transactions<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Once a task is <strong>saved and active<\/strong>, it becomes usable across the system without any additional configuration. Tasks immediately act as the <strong>control point<\/strong> for execution-related transactions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At this point, tasks can be used for:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Creating <strong>purchase orders<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Issuing <strong>materials<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Generating <strong>project issues<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Accumulating costs through <strong>invoices<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>No additional configuration is required at the task level to enable these transactions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Outcome<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>By using project tasks effectively, iDempiere enables work to be organized into <strong>clear, executable units<\/strong> that sit between planning and execution. Tasks act as the <strong>control point<\/strong> where materials, services, and costs are accumulated, allowing teams to <strong>track progress<\/strong>, <strong>manage budgets<\/strong>, and <strong>monitor execution<\/strong> at a practical level.
