Created masters could be mapped to items in item master.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lets take a situation where depat- &#8220;Non Food&#8221;, categ- &#8220;Skin Care&#8221; and subcateg- &#8220;Bath Soap&#8221; are created for an inventory item &#8216;hamam&#8217;. Follow below mentioned instructions for the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Department,Category and Subcategory creation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Go to application path Masters &gt; Product Management &gt; Product-department. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/tenthplanet.in\/idempiere\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2025\/06\/d1-1-1024x615.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4300\" title=\"\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Then you can view all available departments in apps.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Note : Users could not add departments in this list.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>But multiple categories and subcategories under department could be managed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select particular department (NON FOOD) and then click on Category tab.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/tenthplanet.in\/idempiere\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2025\/06\/d2-1-1024x617.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4301\" title=\"\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Under category tab, Press on &#8220;Grid toggel&#8221; to go detailed view and list view.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/tenthplanet.in\/idempiere\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2025\/06\/d3-1024x616.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4302\" title=\"\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Press new option in a screen.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/tenthplanet.in\/idempiere\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2025\/06\/d4-1024x616.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4303\" title=\"\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Enter Category name &amp; Description (optional) and click on save.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/tenthplanet.in\/idempiere\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2025\/06\/d5-1024x616.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4304\" title=\"\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Once category saved, move to Sub Category tab and press &#8220;New&#8221; function key and add subcategory name details.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After creating a department, category and sub category, user can utilise the created details while creating product. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/tenthplanet.in\/idempiere\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2025\/06\/d6-1024x614.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4305\" title=\"\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If product categories and sub categories are already imported to you. Then you can directly select those category details while creating a new products. Also if you want, you can create new categories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to inactivate specific category or Sub category ?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Select and open detailed view of any category which you want to deactivate.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Then remove the tick mark from the Active check box field like below shown image.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Same like category, you can deactivate specific sub category.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/tenthplanet.in\/idempiere\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2025\/06\/d7-1-1024x615.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4314\" title=\"\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Duplicate category or Sub category<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>When user tries to create a category or subcategory name which is already available in master, then system will not allow to save the details and also display the below shown message in screen.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/tenthplanet.in\/idempiere\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2025\/06\/d8-1-1024x615.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4315\" title=\"\"><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It is the mane where user could add and maintain department, category and subcategory.
