Managing lot products in Odoo Inventory makes it easy to track and control items individually A Lot product that is tracked and managed in group or batches<\/strong> (called lots), usually for quality control, traceability, or regulatory compilance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enable Lot & Serial Numbers Setting<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Go to Inventory \u2192 Configuration \u2192 Settings<\/strong>. Scroll down to the Traceability<\/strong> section and turn on the Lots & Serial Numbers<\/strong> option to track products using lot and serial numbers. Then, click the Save<\/strong> button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Creating a New Product in Odoo Inventory<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

To create a serial number product, begin from the Odoo Dashboard<\/strong> and open the Inventory<\/strong> module. From there, click on the Products<\/strong> menu and select Product Master<\/strong> to view all existing products. Click the +New<\/strong> button to create a new product record.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Configure Mandatory Fields for a Product<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In the product creation form, fill in all the required fields. These details are important because they help organize your inventory and make it easier to manage and track your products later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enter the product name<\/strong>, select or create the brand<\/strong>, choose the right product category<\/strong>, and enter the HSN code<\/strong> for tax purposes. Make sure the correct taxes<\/strong> are applied based on the HSN code.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Configure Basic Fields for a Product<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Next, set up the basic product details. Make sure the Product Type is set as Storable Product so Odoo can track its stock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Choose the Unit of Measure and Purchase UoM, which are usually set to \u201cPCS\u201d by default. Select the correct POS category, enter the Maximum Retail Price (MRP), and choose the company the product belongs to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Configure Traceability for a Lot Product<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In the General Information tab of the product creation screen, scroll down to the Traceability section. Here, you will see the Tracking field, which has three options: By Unique Serial Number, By Lots, and No Tracking. These options control how Odoo tracks and manages your products in the inventory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Lot Product, select By Lots<\/strong>. This will automatically enable the Valuation by Lot\/Serial Number<\/strong> option.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note: <\/strong>Once the choose the Trackability as By Lots<\/strong> Manufacturing date and Expiration Date fields become visable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Save the Product<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Finally, click the Save<\/strong> button at the top of the screen to save the new product. Once saved, Odoo automatically creates a unique product code for identification. When these products are received, sold, or transferred, Odoo will ask the user to assign or scan a lot product for each item, ensuring full traceability throughout the product\u2019s lifecycle.
