How to create POS Terminal in Adempiere Retail

A POS (Point of Sale) Terminal is a device or system used by shops to bill customers, collect payments, print receipts, and update inventory.

User Access

Who Can Access

• Admin
• Back Office
• Purchase Manager
• Manager

What User Can Do

• Create customer bills (scan items, enter quantities, apply discounts).
• Process payments (cash, card, UPI, coupons, etc.).
• Print receipts for customers.
• View and manage open bills.
• Apply offers, promotions, loyalty points.
• Check item price with barcode.
• Handle returns/exchanges from customers.
• Check stock availability from POS (if enabled).

Pre-Requisite Activities

• POS devices and software installed & configured.
• User login created with POS access rights.
• Item master, price lists, tax details updated in the system.
• POS connected to printer, scanner, and payment devices.
• Store opening procedures completed (cash float entered).
• Network connectivity active (for syncing data).
• Promotions, discounts, and offers configured if required.

Business Rules

• User must log in with valid credentials before billing.
• All scanned items must have valid price, barcode, and tax details.
• System should update stock automatically after each sale.
• Discounts must be applied only with authorization, if required.
• Any return/exchange must follow store return policy.
• Cash drawer transactions must be recorded properly (opening/closing).
• End-of-day (EOD) settlement must be completed before shift closure.
• Offline bills should sync automatically when network resumes.

User Interface

STEP 1: To click a POS Terminal screen.

STEP 2: To click a create new option.

STEP 3: Once to click a create new option to open the new screen to fill the mandatory fields.

STEP 4: To enter the values for all mandatory fields .Finally to click a save option.
