How To Switch To Offline billing in Odoo QSR POS?

On-cloud Odoo QSR POS application needs internet for smooth operation. But in case, when there is internet connectivity problems or outages at shop, user can switch the application into offline mode.

Business rules

  • Only sales entry can be done in offline mode, other features will not be available.
  • In offline mode, every bills should stored in local and then when the internet is normal, then all the local stored sales data will be synced to online.
  • When system lost internet connection, there is a option called “offline” click on that.
  • In offline screen, user can find the offline tool, just click on download and install that offline tool.
  • Once offline tool is installed, open the same menu called “offline” there now user can find the option called “Go offline”, click on that.
  • Then system will run the offline tool and go to sales screen, so user can proceed the billing.
  • Once the internet issue is resolved, then go to the same menu screen called “offline”, now the user can find the option called “Go online” there.
  • Click on “go online”, system will check for the internet once internet is fine, then system will upload the bills from local to online.

How Offline Billing Works in Odoo QSR POS?

  • Automatic Switch: Odoo detects network loss immediately and displays a red connection status indicator at the top right of the screen.
  • Continue Selling: Click Continue with limited functionalities on the alert prompt to proceed with billing.
  • Local Storage: All sales, orders, and payment records are saved securely inside your web browser’s local storage (IndexedDB).
  • Data Syncing: Once your internet connection returns, Odoo automatically syncs all offline transactions back to the cloud database.
