Subcontract Introduction in Odoo18
The steps below guide you through understanding and configuring the “Subcontracting” feature in Odoo 18. This workflow covers enabling the feature, setting up warehouse resupply routes for subcontracting, and understanding how it delegates parts of the production process to subcontractors, thereby streamlining operations and reducing internal workload.
- Enable Subcontracting Feature: Begin by navigating to the “Manufacturing” settings in Odoo 18. Under “Operations,” ensure that the “Subcontracting” checkbox is ticked. This allows you to delegate parts of the production process to subcontractors.
- Configure Warehouse Resupply Route: Go to the “Inventory” module, then to “Configuration,” and select “Warehouses.” Choose your relevant warehouse (e.g., FGWH).Under the “Resupply” section, tick the “Resupply Subcontractor” option and save. This sets up the route for subcontracted items.
- Access Product Information: Navigate to the “Manufacturing” module, then to “Products,” and select the product for which you want to enable subcontracting (e.g., “PUF Insulation panel HF80”).
- Set Resupply to Subcontractor in Inventory: Within the product’s details, go to the “Inventory” tab. In the “Operations” section, ensure that “Resupply Subcontractor on Order” is selected under the “Routes” field.
- Create a Bill of Material (BOM) for Subcontracting: Go to the “More” option and select “Bill of Materials”. Here, you can define a Bill of Material specifically for subcontracting. For instance, you can create a reference named “Subcontracting” to signify that this particular BOM is for subcontracted manufacturing. This helps in clearly identifying subcontracted production processes.
