  • Integrated Replacement Workflow: Odoo18 introduces a dedicated “Return for Exchange” option that automates the creation of both a return receipt for the incoming item and a new delivery order for the replacement product.
  • Initiating the Return: To start the process, navigate to the original Delivery Order from the Sales Order and click the Return button.
  • Selecting Exchange Type: In the return pop-up window, after specifying the quantity, you select Return for Exchange instead of a standard refund-only return.
  • Receiving the Returned Item: The system automatically generates a Receipt transfer. Validating this receipt confirms the defective or unwanted item has been returned to your company stock.
  • Automated Replacement Delivery: Once the return is validated, Odoo immediately creates a new Delivery Order for the replacement item. This allows for a seamless exchange without needing to create a new manual Sales Order.
  • Product Substitutions: During the exchange process, users have the flexibility to swap the returned item for a different product if needed, adjusting for any differences in stock or serial numbers.
  • Traceability and Monitoring: All transfers—the original delivery, the return receipt, and the replacement delivery—are listed under the Delivery smart button on the original Sales Order for full visibility and audit tracking.
  • Inventory Accuracy: The feature ensures that stock levels are updated in real-time, correctly reflecting that one item has returned to inventory while another has been shipped out.
