Cross Docking Intro
This video introduces the Cross Docking feature in Odoo18, a logistics strategy that minimizes handling and storage time by transferring incoming products directly to outgoing shipments.
- Core Concept: The narrator explains that cross-docking is a practice where products from a supplier are delivered directly to a customer with little to no storage time in the warehouse.
- Enabling Required Settings: To use this feature, you must first go to the Inventory module settings and enable Storage Locations and Multi-Step Routes.
- Warehouse Configuration: The video demonstrates navigating to Configuration > Warehouses to select the specific warehouse where cross-docking will be applied.
- Defining Shipment Steps: Under the Shipments tab, the narrator sets Incoming Shipments to “Receive then Store (2 steps)” and Outgoing Shipments to “Pick then Deliver (2 steps)”.
- Activating the Route: In the Routes section, the Cross-Dock route must be selected to define how products move directly from the input area to the output area for the customer.
- Creating a Sales Order: The demonstration shows how to create a new Sales Order, select a product (such as steel), and specify the quantity to trigger the cross-docking workflow.
