How to manage rounding method in Odoo18
This video explains the Rounding Method feature in Odoo 18. This feature allows you to choose how total taxes are computed on orders and invoices, either by rounding each line individually or by rounding the global total.
The steps below guide you through configuring and applying the rounding method in Odoo 18. This workflow ensures that your tax calculations align with your business practices or regional regulations.
- Access Invoicing Settings: Navigate to the Invoicing (or Accounting) module and go to Configuration -> Settings.
- Locate Rounding Method: Under the “Taxes” section, you will find the Rounding Method option.
- Choose a Strategy: You can select one of two methods:
- Round per Line: The tax amount is computed for each individual product line, and each result is rounded separately before being summed into the total.
- Round Globally: The tax amount is calculated for the sum of all product lines first, and only the final total is rounded.
- Apply and Verify: Once you’ve chosen a method, save your settings. Then, create or open a Sales Order or Invoice to see the effect on the tax calculation. For example, if you have multiple items, you’ll see the total amount rounded according to your global or per-line choice.
- Practical Application: This setting is crucial for maintaining consistent financial records and ensuring your invoices match your customer’s expectations, especially in different tax jurisdictions.
