How to Track the Vendor Return Status in Odoo
Tracking the status of a record is very important because it helps identify its current stage. This is mainly used to control user-wise validation or confirmation of vendor returns. For example, a regular user may only be allowed to create the record, while a manager can both create and confirm the record.
To open a Vendor Return, access Inventory → Operations → Vendor return in the system. Click the ‘New’ button to create a new Vendor Return.
Actions to Perform in Draft Status
Select the vendor and return reason from the respective field. Once you save the record, the Transfer id is generated, and the current status is draft. Select the product from the Product field dropdown. Select the GR Bill No from the Bill No field dropdown. Enter the return quantity in the Demand field.

How the System Updates the Draft Status to Ready
Once the record is saved and the Transfer ID is generated, please verify all the details of the vendor return before clicking Mark as To-Do.
After clicking “Mark as To-Do,” the status will change to Ready.

How the System Updates the Ready Status to Done
After clicking “Mark as To-Do,” the page will refresh and the status will automatically change. Please verify the Product Availability once the products are available, you can proceed with the vendor return. Make sure to also check the Demand Quantity before continuing.
When everything is correct, click “Validate.” The status will then change to Done.

How Status are Change into Cancelled
When the status is Draft or Ready, you may occasionally need to cancel the vendor return. If the user clicks the Cancel button, the status will immediately change to Cancelled.
