How to Create a Scrap Wastage Document for Lot Products in Odoo Inventory
In Odoo inventory,Scrap wastage refers to the process of recording and managing products that are defective, or unusable during manufacturing, inventory handling, or quality checks.Scrap wastage for lot Products i.e ( Branded or Unbranded). Where product on-hand quantity can be reduced by using scrap wastage when its damaged.
Navigation to Scrap Wastage in Odoo
To open a Scrap Wastage, go to the Inventory module and navigate to Operations, then select Scrap Wastage. Once you are on the Scrap Wastage page, click the New button to create a new record.
Mandatory Fields for Scrap Wastage
Select the correct source location of the product in the Source Location field, then choose the appropriate product category in the Product Categories field. Once the record is saved, the system will automatically generate the document number.
Enter Basic Details
The Owner field is optional and does not need to be filled in. The Doc Type field will display “Scrap” and cannot be edited. The Company field will automatically show the company name based on the drop down selection. In the Effective Date field, select the appropriate date for the document.
Choose a Product for scrap wastage
Select the product based on the chosen product category in the Product field. Once the product is selected, the UOM is automatically populated, and the system also displays the product’s average cost in the Cost field. For lot products, choose the appropriate lot or serial number. If applicable, the GRN date linked to the lot or product batch will be automatically loaded.

Validate Scrap Wastage
Enter the required quantity in the Adjust Qty field. Decimal quantities are allowed for products without tracking, and the entered quantity cannot exceed the available stock unless negative inventory is enabled in the system. After entering the details, click Validate to complete the process, and the product will be scrapped. Once validated, the on-hand quantity of the product will be reduced accordingly.
Total Value Formula:
Total Value = Adjust Quantity × Cost
Example:
Adjust Quantity = 3
Cost = 14.76
Total Value = 44.28
