How to Process Stock Adjustment for Lot Products in Odoo Inventory

Stock Adjustment in Odoo plays a key role in keeping your inventory accurate and up to date. It helps correct quantity mismatches, update stock levels and ensure clean inventory records. When handling products tracked by Lot, Odoo makes the adjustment process even more precise by allowing you to update each lot individually.

Before performing a stock adjustment, ensure that the product is configured to be tracked by Lots. Only products with lot tracking enabled can have individual lots selected during the stock adjustment process. Without lot tracking, the system will not allow lot-level adjustments.

To start, click +New to create a new Stock Adjustment document. Select the Source Location where the stock is stored and choose the Product Category from the drop down. After entering these details, click Save and the system will generate a unique Stock Adjustment Document Number.

If you try to validate the document before adding any products, the system will display an alert: “No scrap lines with products found. Please add products to validate.” This simply means you must add at least one product before continuing.

Selecting Products and Lots during Stock Adjustment

You can add a products to the Stock Adjustment document in different ways: by typing the product code, product name or scanning the lot barcode. Once the product is selected, choose the required Lot Number, because selecting a lot is mandatory for lot tracked items.

After selecting the lot, the system automatically displays the Lot Barcode, On-Hand Quantity and the GRN Date linked to that lot.
The Lot Barcode will appear only if the selected lot has a barcode assigned. The On-Hand Quantity always displays based on the stock stored in the selected Source Location. The GRN Date shows the date when that specific lot was first received into stock.

You can add multiple products in a single Stock Adjustment and you can also add the same lot product multiple times as long as you select different lot numbers. If you try adding the same product with the same lot more than once, the system will display an alert message: “Same Product cannot be added in the same document, Please remove Product [Product Name]”.

Quantity Adjustment and Cost Calculation

After selecting the product and its lot, you can enter the Counted Quantity. The system will automatically calculate the Adjust Qty based on the difference between the On Hand Quantity and the counted quantity.

For lot-based products, the corresponding selected lot average cost will automatically displayed in the Cost field. The system then calculates the Total Value for the adjustment by multiplying the Adjust Qty with the Cost. This ensures accurate stock valuation for every lot being updated.

Validating the Stock Adjustment

Once all product details and quantities are reviewed, click the Validate button.

After validation, the system updates the lot’s on-hand quantity, total value and average cost based on the adjustments you entered. This ensures your stock levels remain accurate and reflect the actual quantities in your warehouse.
