How to Set Quantity for a Product in POS Cart in Odoo
In the POS system, setting a quantity for a product is simple. You can scan the product, manually enter the quantity, or use a weigh scale when applicable. Certain rules are also followed when increasing or decreasing the quantity to ensure accurate entry.
Adding Products in POS
Methods to Add a Product:
- Enter Product Code with leading ‘/’
- Scan or enter Barcode / EAN Code
- Scan or enter Multiple Barcodes / EANs
- Use Lot Barcode for lot-tracked items
Selecting Quantity in POS
By default, the Quantity (Qty) option is selected in the POS system. If it is not selected, you can activate it by:
- Clicking the “Qty” button on the on-screen keypad,
- Press the “q” key on your keyboard (shortcut key).
Updating Product Quantity
To update the quantity, you can use the on-screen number pad or type the desired value using your keyboard’s number pad. You can also scan the product multiple times using its barcode, and the quantity will increase automatically with each scan.
Increasing Quantity – Limit Handling
When a product is added, the default quantity is set to 1. You can enter the desired quantity using either the keypad or the keyboard. If the quantity entered exceeds 999, the system will display an alert stating, Maximum Quantity Limit. After the alert appears, the quantity will automatically reset to 1.
Decreasing Quantity
Backspace Functionality: Press Backspace to reduce quantity digit-by-digit
(Example: 112 → 11 → 1 → 0)On-Screen Keypad Controls Tap the × (cross) button to decrease quantity digit-by-digit (same as Backspace)
Decimal Quantity Rules Based on UOM
For whole units (e.g., pieces or units), only whole number quantities are allowed, and decimal values are not permitted. For weight-based units (e.g., kilograms), decimal quantities are allowed. Examples include 2.500 and 3.75.
Deleting a Product Line
When the product quantity is 0, you can press Backspace to delete the product line. Alternatively, you can tap the × on the on-screen keypad to remove the product.
