Setting Reference and Conversion
When setting up a Unit of Measure, first define the Reference UOM, which serves as the base unit for your category (for example, Piece or Box). Next, specify the Ratio to establish the conversion relationship, such as 1 box equaling 10 pieces, meaning the ratio is 10.
Ensure that the Active checkbox is selected so the UOM becomes immediately usable within the system. Finally, set the Rounding Precision to determine the number of decimal places for quantity calculations—for instance, 1 for pieces or kilograms. Once all details are entered, click Save to finalize the Unit of Measure.

UOM Categories play a crucial role in streamlining inventory management by reducing confusion between different units of measure and ensuring accurate conversions between them. They also enhance the efficiency of Point of Sale (POS) operations and help maintain compliance with standards such as GST. Whether products are managed by weight, volume, or quantity, UOM Categories serve as a simple yet powerful tool to keep inventory organized, consistent, and precise.
