How to Create HSN Code in Odoo Inventory
The HSN Master in Odoo Inventory simplifies the management of HSN codes, helping businesses maintain accurate tax reporting and product categorization within their inventory system.
Getting Started with HSN Master
To get started, go to the Inventory module, then navigate to Configuration -> Warehouse Management -> HSN Master. This section provides a centralized view of all the created HSN codes.
In the HSN Master screen, you will find a list of all HSN codes, along with essential details such as the HSN Code, Description, Tax and Cess.
Searching for Existing HSN Code
You can quickly search specific HSN Codes by using the search bar at the top of the screen. Simply search by the HSN code itself or by its description to find the relevant entries.
Creation Of New HSN Code in Odoo Inventory
If you need to create a new HSN code, the process is straightforward. Click +NEW to open a new screen where you can enter the required details for the new HSN Code.
First, you need to enter a valid HSN Code in the HSN Code field and provide a clear, accurate Description that explains the category or type it represents. Both fields are mandatory and must be filled in before you can proceed.
Next, you need to specify the Tax Rate and Cess values if applicable. This helps ensure accurate tax calculations for the products linked to that HSN code.
Once all required details are entered and the record is saved, the newly created HSN Code becomes available for mapping to products. This allows you to assign the correct HSN Code to each product in Product Master. Within the HSN Master, users can map multiple tax rates to a single HSN code.
When mapping the HSN code to a product in the Product Master, the system displays the available HSN codes in the format HSN Code (Tax), making it easier for users to identify and select the correct combination.
Deletion Of HSN Codes
HSN codes can only be deleted if they are not assigned to any products. If you attempt to delete an HSN code that is already in use, the system will display the validation alert “Invalid Operation: Cannot delete HSN, It’s used in one or more products.”
