How to create a Product Color in Adempiere Retail
Product Colour refers to the specific colour assigned to a product in the product master. It helps in identifying, filtering, classifying, and reporting items – especially in industries like fashion, apparel, and electronics.

- Cashier
- Manager
- Admin
What User Can Do
- Define new colors in the master (e.g., Red, Navy Blue, Olive Green)
- Assign color to each product during creation or update
Pre-Requisite Activities
- Finalize a standard list of product colors (avoid duplicates like “Dark Red” vs “Red Dark”)
- Ensure color master is created and maintained centrally
- Link product color with product size/style matrix if applicable
- Train users on selecting correct color codes from drop downs
Business Rules
- Product must have a valid color assigned if the product category requires it
- Color names should be unique and standardized (no spelling variations)
- Color field can be mandatory based on product classification
- Same style and size items can exist with multiple colors (color variants)
- Color cannot be changed once transaction exists for the product
- System should not allow inactive colors to be selected in new product entries

STEP 4: Finally to Save the Document.
