How to Configure Asset Addition in iDempiere
Configure the Asset Addition window in iDempiere to record retail asset costs, values and depreciation setup.
Introduction
The Asset Addition window in iDempiere records the cost, value, and quantity added to an existing fixed asset.

Configuration Steps
Step 1: Select Asset and Product
Open the Asset Addition record for the target asset. Confirm the Product field shows the correct equipment and set the Locator if the asset is warehouse-tracked.
| Field | Sample Value | Description |
| Product | LAPTOP-001_Dell Latitude 5550 Laptop | Product linked to the asset being added |
| Locator | (blank) | Warehouse locator storing the asset, if tracked |

Step 2: Record Attribute and Description
Verify the Attribute Set Instance matches the physical unit being added. Enter an optional Description noting the reason for the addition.
| Field | Sample Value | Description |
| Attribute Set Instance | 1000036 | Instance tracking serial or lot details of the asset |
| Description | (free text) | Optional note explaining the addition |
Step 3: Enter Amounts and Valuation Details
Enter Entered Amount and Asset value for the addition. Set Asset Salvage Value if a residual value applies, and confirm Current Qty for the units added.

Step 5: Complete and Post the Document
Use Document Action to Complete the record, then confirm Document Status shows Completed before clicking Posted.
| Field | Sample Value | Description |
| Document Status | Completed | Current status of the addition document |

Note: Posting the Asset Addition does not immediately generate depreciation accounting entries. These remain hidden until the related Post Depreciation Depreciation Entry document is completed and posted separately.
Common Issues and Resolutions
| Issue | Cause | Resolution |
| Asset Addition cannot be completed | Mandatory Entered Amount or Asset value left blank | Fill all required fields marked with an asterisk before saving |
